What does mail forwarding cost?

Svensk Adressändring's prices for forwarding after a move within Sweden, including VAT, retrieved 2 October 2026:

• With an active student package, forwarding costs 0 kr regardless of period.
• Temporary forwarding, 14 days up to six months: 160 kr start fee and 80 kr per week, at most 798 kr. Under 26 or student: 80 kr and 40 kr per week, at most 399 kr.
• Mail hold, seven days up to two months: 350 kr, or 175 kr if you are under 26 or a student.
• If you pay by invoice, an invoice fee of 49 kr is added.
• An extension of 3, 6 or 12 months costs half the price.

The page also showed campaigns: "From 98 kr" for young people and students, and up to 900 kr discount if you take up offers from Adressändring's partners. Campaigns can change and are not included in the prices above.

   Step 1: Decide whether you want mail forwarding or just a free change of address.

   Step 2: Choose a period: 3, 6 or 12 months.

   Step 3: Order at adressandring.se and enter your old and your new address.

   Step 4: Choose a payment method. Invoice costs 49 kronor extra.

   Step 5: Submit your flyttanmälan (notification of change of address) to Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency) separately, since mail forwarding does not change your population registration.

   Step 6: Tell associations, magazines and private individuals your new address during the period.

Is there free mail forwarding?

The change of address itself is free at Svensk Adressändring, but forwarding costs money. The exception is anyone with an active student package, where forwarding costs 0 kr according to the price list.

How long should I forward my mail?

Svensk Adressändring says it can take up to twelve months for companies to update their address registers. Skatteverket describes forwarding as something that runs for a certain period, "usually a year". Both point towards a year, but Adressändring sells the service.

Can I order mail forwarding from PostNord?

No, not directly. PostNord refers you to Svensk Adressändring for change of address and forwarding. PostNord owns 85 per cent of the company.

Are there other mail forwarding services?

No. We have checked Svensk Adressändring in the same way as other providers, but without a favourite label since there is nothing to choose between.

Is mail forwarding the same as flyttanmälan?

No. Svensk Adressändring says they are "två olika saker" and that the notification to Skatteverket "måste göras separat". Skatteverket says that mail forwarding does not change your population registration address. How to make the flyttanmälan is explained in the guide to flyttanmälan.

Can I forward my mail temporarily?

Yes. Temporary mail forwarding runs from 14 days up to six months and costs 160 kr plus 80 kr per week for one household, at most 798 kr. If you are just going to be away, you can instead put your mail on hold for seven days up to two months for 350 kr.

Can I change my address without mail forwarding?

Yes, and it is free. Svensk Adressändring says that all mail with your old address on the envelope is then returned to the sender.

Can I have a postbox as a private person?

Yes. A postbox is a locked compartment with its own box number that you rent from PostNord, and the post is placed there instead of at home. You collect it yourself. Terms, price and available boxes in your area can be found at PostNord. If the post is to go to the box for at least six months, you can register the box address as a special postal address with Skatteverket. It costs nothing, and the population registration address does not change.
