What does it cost to rent a trailer?
The price depends on the type of trailer and how long you have it. This is what the published prices looked like on 5 October 2026:
- OKQ8: trailers from 249 kr for up to four hours and from 379 kr per day. OKQ8 states that the chain has 2,600 trailers at 300 stations.
- Use4Free (Brenderup): free for three hours at partner stores, then 49 kronor per extra hour or 295 kronor for a day. Pre-booking costs 49 kronor and self-risk elimination 69 kronor. Without it, the self-risk is 5,000 kronor.
- Circle K: trailer for 2, 4 and 6 hours, one day or one week. The price is stated in the booking, not on the website.

The licence check: can you tow the trailer?
The gross weight is in the registration certificate for the car and the trailer. The rental company can give you the trailer's gross weight.
Enter both weights.
You may drive. The trailer weighs at most 750 kilograms, or the car and trailer stay within the limit for your licence.
You need B96 or BE. The car and trailer weigh more than 3,500 kilograms together but at most 4,250 kilograms.
You need BE. The car and trailer weigh more than 4,250 kilograms together.
BE covers heavier trailers. Check the trailer's weight against Transportstyrelsen's rules for BE before you rent.
Transportstyrelsen: with a B licence you may tow a light trailer of at most 750 kilograms gross weight, or a heavier one if the car and trailer together weigh at most 3,500 kilograms. With B96 they may weigh at most 4,250 kilograms. You drive a van of at most 3,500 kilograms with B.
What driver's license do I need for a rental trailer?
With a B driving licence, you can tow a light trailer, with a maximum total weight of 750 kilos. A heavier trailer is also possible, if the total weight of the car and trailer together is no more than 3,500 kilos. With an extended B licence, B96, the car and trailer can weigh a maximum of 4,250 kilos together, and with BE the trailer can weigh up to 3,500 kilos. The car's maximum towing weight is stated under point F.3 in the registration certificate. The Transport Agency's trailer calculator calculates whether your car is allowed to tow a particular trailer.

Which trailer should I choose?
An open trailer or a mesh trailer is sufficient for furniture, boxes and waste for the recycling centre. A box trailer protects against rain, and Circle K has box trailers of 9 and 11 cubic metres. If it is more than a box trailer can hold, a panel van may be more suitable: a panel van that weighs up to 3,500 kilos is considered a light lorry and can be driven with a category B driving licence. OKQ8 hires out removal vans from 4 cubic metres, from 491 kronor, and 18 cubic metres with a rear lift from 862 kronor (5 October 2026). Rent a car trailer
If the car needs to be moved, you need a car trailer that is designed to transport a car. Circle K rents out car trailers at selected stations, with total weights from 1,300 to 2,500 kilos according to the website. A heavy car trailer with a car on it often exceeds 3,500 kilos together with the towing vehicle, and then a standard B driving licence is not enough. Take the driving licence test above with the trailer's total weight before you book. Otherwise, a removal company or a car transport company can drive the car.

Can I leave the trailer at a different location?
You leave the chains' own trailers at the same station where you picked them up. Circle K writes that it does not have one-way car and truck rentals. Do I get a RUT tax deduction for the trailer?
Not for the rental. Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency) does not provide a deduction for moving trucks or fuel. The RUT tax deduction applies to work done by a company, such as carrying, loading and driving your belongings. If you drive yourself and the waste needs to go to the recycling centre, there is no deduction at all.
