What applies to storage in the new residence?
Firearms that are not in use should be stored in a security cabinet or an equally secure space, and ammunition and silencers under secure lock. The Police state that the cabinet should meet the requirements of SS 3492 or SSF 3492. As a private person, you store the firearms in your permanent residence or in a building that is connected to it.
You can also store them in another residence or premises to which you have access, if the storage is equally secure. It is a notification, not an application: the Police do not review or approve the location. Notified firearms can be moved between that location and the residence without a new notification.

Common questions
Can the relocation company move my weapons?
Not if you haven't agreed on it. Bohag 2010, the general terms and conditions used by many removal companies, exclude guns and ammunition from the goods to be moved. If you move the guns yourself, they must be under your supervision during the entire transport.
Where should weapons be stored after the move?
Primarily in your permanent residence, in a security cabinet that meets SS 3492 or SSF 3492. Another residence or premises to which you have access is also possible, if the storage is equally secure and you report the location to the Police.
Can a friend store weapons while we move?
Only with permission from the Police. With the new firearms law, it is sufficient that storage with someone else appears more suitable, but the permission is still required and is time-limited.
