Do I have to notify both Skatteverket and Svensk Adressändring?
You make the flyttanmälan to Skatteverket for every move. The change of address with Svensk Adressändring is a choice you make for your mail. Svensk Adressändring itself says they are "två olika saker", that you should update your address with both and that a notification to Skatteverket "måste göras separat". Skatteverket says the same from the other direction: "Enbart eftersändning ändrar däremot inte din folkbokföringsadress."

What happens if I only do one of them?
Without a flyttanmälan, your population registration does not change. If you make it more than a week after the move, the new address applies from the day the notification reached Skatteverket, not from the day you moved in. Without mail forwarding, mail with the old address goes back to the sender, according to Svensk Adressändring.

Is adressandring.se the same as Post's change of address?
In practice, yes. The change of address for post is done on adressandring.se, which is run by Svensk Adressändring AB. PostNord and CityMail founded the company in 1993, and today PostNord owns 85 per cent and CityMail 15 per cent. PostNord does not sell forwarding itself to private individuals, but refers to Adressändring. However, you change your population registration with Skatteverket, see change of address with Skatteverket.

Who gets my new address automatically?
Once you have made the flyttanmälan, Skatteverket passes the address on to Försäkringskassan (the Swedish Social Insurance Agency), CSN (the Swedish Board of Student Finance), Transportstyrelsen (the Swedish Transport Agency), Pensionsmyndigheten (the Swedish Pensions Agency), Arbetsförmedlingen (the Swedish Public Employment Service), Migrationsverket (the Swedish Migration Agency) and Lantmäteriet (the Swedish land registration authority), among others, and to municipalities and regions. Larger banks and insurance companies get it through the SPAR register. You notify clubs and associations, magazines, electricity suppliers and private individuals yourself. The full list is in the checklist for changing your address when you move.

Can I make a temporary change of address?
For mail, yes. Svensk Adressändring sells temporary mail forwarding from 14 days up to six months, and can pause mail for seven days up to two months. This only applies to mail. Population registration is not changed by mail forwarding. Which option suits you, and when you report a special mail address instead, is stated in the guide on temporary change of address.

Does the flyttanmälan give Adressändring my address?
None of the sources we have read says so. Svensk Adressändring says that the notifications are separate and that it is not responsible for your update with Skatteverket. If you want your mail to follow you, do both.

What is the difference between a population registration address and a postal address?
The population registration address is where you live. If you want your mail sent to another address for at least six months, you register a special postal address with Skatteverket, and it does not change your population registration. How it works, and when c/o is used, is explained in the guide to population registration, postal address and c/o.
