Storage in Gothenburg when the move is not direct
You need storage when you leave your home before you can move into the next one. The removal company's work driving your belongings to and from the storage unit qualifies for the RUT tax deduction, but the storage rent itself does not, according to Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency). So ask for a quote where the transport and the rent are listed separately.

When days or weeks pass between leaving the old home and being able to move into the new one. It can also apply to things that will not fit in the new home at first.
Does storage qualify for the RUT tax deduction?
The transport does. Skatteverket allows the RUT tax deduction for the removal company's work moving household goods to and from storage. The storage rent itself gets no deduction, and neither do the van, fuel or boxes.

Storage with a removal company or self-storage?
With a removal company, the company collects your belongings, stores them and delivers them when you are ready. In a self-storage unit you drive the things there yourself, have your own access and pay monthly rent per unit.
