What is free and what costs?
The prices at Svensk Adressändring apply to moves within Sweden, including VAT, retrieved 9 October 2026:

Flyttanmälan to Skatteverket is free
Flyttanmälan changes your population registration, and you do this with every move. Skatteverket states that it is free and that you do it in the e-service Flyttanmälan, before the move or at the latest one week after. If the notification is received later, the new address applies from the day it was received. When you have reported the move, authorities such as Försäkringskassan (the Swedish Social Insurance Agency) and CSN (the Swedish Board of Student Finance) receive the new address from Skatteverket. It is also free to report a special postal address, if you want to receive post at a different address than the one you are registered at for at least six months. If a website charges you for doing flyttanmälan for you, it is not the service of the Tax Authority.

Change of address for mail: free without mail forwarding
With Svensk Adressändring you can report a new address without paying. Then all mail deliverers will know that you have moved, but mail sent to the old address will be returned to the sender, and you need to notify companies of your new address yourself. The price list states it outright: "To only report a change of address is free."

Is there free mail forwarding?
Only with an active student package, where mail forwarding costs 0 kr regardless of period. If you are under 26 or a student, it costs 298 to 398 kr, compared to 698 to 998 kr for a household. If you extend the mail forwarding, you pay half the price. Svensk Adressändring also shows campaigns with discounts if you take advantage of offers from their partners. Do I need to pay for mail forwarding?
No, it is an option. Flyttanmälan does not change where the mail is sent, and mail forwarding does not change the population registration, so they do not replace each other.
