   • The minimum term applies even if you move (Konsumentverket). For a consumer it may be at most 24 months (7 kap. 8 § lagen om elektronisk kommunikation).
   • The notice period may be at most one month (7 kap. 13 § same act).

Do I have to pay the minimum term if I move?

Yes. Konsumentverket says you are obliged to pay for the whole minimum term, "även om du till exempel flyttar och tjänsten inte fungerar i ditt nya hem".

When can I change broadband or broadband provider?

Without cost when the contract period has expired, and it may be at most 24 months for consumer agreements, according to Konsumentverket. If you move to a house with its own network, such as Gothenburg Energy's city fibre, you choose from the suppliers available there. If you cancel the agreement, it may also have a notice period, so that it is terminated only after a certain period after the cancellation. The Consumer Agency's example is one month, but it is stated in your agreement.

What applies to a contract for a fibre connection?

If you have signed a contract to connect your home to fibre and the connection is not finished, you are usually bound by the contract even if you move, according to Hallå konsument.

How does the city fibre network work in Gothenburg?

Göteborg Energi's subsidiary GothNet owns and manages an open fibre network. Once your home is connected, you choose a service provider with the communications operator linked to the address. There are two in the network: Seths Open Network and iTUX, and in their portals you can see which one applies to your address. Not all addresses are connected to that network, so ask the landlord or the association which network the building has (our advice).

Where can I compare broadband?

Use a comparison service and enter your new address. We have checked these two; our favourite comes first. Nobody pays to be listed. How each one makes its own money is stated in its box. If you live in Göteborg Energi's city fibre network, the operator's portal above also applies.

No third comparison service for broadband passed our check. Compricer and Prisjakt show Bredbandsval's comparison under their own name and therefore give the same results as Bredbandsval.
