When should I change my address?
Before you move or at the latest one week after, according to Skatteverket. If you do it later, the new address applies from the day the notification arrived.

How do I submit the flyttanmälan?

Is the flyttanmälan the same as mail forwarding?
No. You order mail forwarding separately from Svensk Adressändring. The difference is explained in the guide to change of address.

Do I have to change my address if I move within Gothenburg?
Yes. The flyttanmälan applies to every move, even within the same city. What you then change yourself is in the checklist for changing address when you move.

- Energimarknadsinspektionen: cancel the electricity network contract at the latest one month before you move out unless otherwise agreed.
- Göteborg Energi has its own form for cancelling and taking out an electricity network contract. Use it if you are moving within Gothenburg.

- The same person must be named on the electricity network contract and the electricity supply contract (Göteborg Energi; cf. 9 kap. 1 § ellagen).
- If you do not choose an electricity supplier, you currently get an assigned contract with a notice period of at most 14 days (9 kap. 3 and 8 §§ ellagen). From 1 July 2027 assigned contracts are abolished according to Energimarknadsinspektionen.

- The minimum term applies even if you move (Konsumentverket (the Swedish Consumer Agency)). It may be at most 24 months for a consumer (7 kap. 8 § lagen om elektronisk kommunikation).
- The notice period may be at most one month (7 kap. 13 § same act).

The notification must contain, among other things, the date of the change of address, the new address, the apartment number if the building has several apartments and who granted the right to occupy the home.

An electricity supplier may agree to supply at a connection point only with someone who, under an agreement with the grid company, has the right to draw electricity there.
