Gift for a first place of their own
Someone moving out of their parents' home often starts from zero. Konsumentverket's example for a 20-year-old with a place of their own allows 920 kr a month for household equipment and 200 kr for consumables. That says something about what is needed. Our ideas: a saucepan and a frying pan, a good knife, towels, a toolbox with the basics, or a box of consumables that lasts the first month.

Gift for a flat
In a flat, space is often what is missing. Our ideas: storage that fits in a hallway or a storeroom, an extension lead and light bulbs for the first evenings, a plant that copes with little light, or a map of the new neighbourhood with the nearest places marked.
Gift for a house
A house usually has more to fix, outside and in. Our ideas: garden tools, a good ladder, a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket, or a gift card for a hardware shop near the house.
Give a service
Someone who is moving is short of time. Help with the move-out cleaning, a few hours of removal help or you coming over to carry are gifts that get noticed. Housewarming party
It is best to wait until the boxes are unpacked. Write on the invitation if anything is missing in the home, so your guests do not have to guess. That is our advice.
