What can the removal company not move according to Bohag 2010?
Bohag 2010 are the general moving terms for consumers, developed by Sveriges Åkeriföretag and Sveriges Möbeltransportörers Förbund together with Konsumentverket (the Swedish Consumer Agency). Point 2 lists what the assignment does not include unless otherwise agreed. This does not mean that the company is prohibited from taking the items, but that they are not included in the price and conditions if you have not written them in.
| What is not included | Examples from the regulations |
|---|---|
| Valuables | Money, securities, items made of precious metals, jewellery |
| Objects that can harm people or property | Flammable, explosive, corrosive or foul-smelling substances, weapons and ammunition |
| Wine and spirits | The part of the value that exceeds 15 percent of the price base amount |
| Live animals and plants | Pets, aquarium fish, potted plants |
| Temperature-sensitive goods | No listing in the regulations |
| Abnormally heavy or bulky items | Adjustable beds, wing chairs, billiard tables |
| Work beyond transport | Draining of waterbed, move-out cleaning, connection of computers and fixed lighting |
Konsumentverket writes that companies that are members of Sveriges Åkeriföretag or Sveriges Möbeltransportörers Förbund must follow Bohag 2010, and that the rules are seen as good practice for other companies. Therefore, ask in the offer if the company follows it.

What do the removal companies themselves say no to?
The companies may have their own lists that go further than Bohag 2010. Flyttdax in Gothenburg, for example, writes that they do not handle refrigerated and frozen goods, flammable goods such as paint, oils, fuel and gas cylinders, items made of precious metal, real pearls and precious stones, antiques, works of art and real carpets, clocks, furs, tobacco, wine and spirits, mobile phones, computers and software media. Regarding plants, they write that short distances usually work if the plants are loaded last, but that the insurance does not cover them.
The list is an example, not a rule for all companies. Read the terms with the company you book and ask about what you are unsure of before the moving day. That is our advice.

How do you move gas, paint and petrol yourself?
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency considers petrol, diesel, gas, spray cans and lithium batteries as hazardous goods. As a private person, you may have them in your own car if two conditions are met: the goods must be in retail packaging, and they must be for personal use, household or sports and leisure. The agency mentions the gas bottle as a robust product that may be sold without packaging. Make sure the goods are secured in the car. Flammable liquids in a refillable container may be a maximum of 60 litres per container and 240 litres in total.
Also, think about where the bottle should be placed in the new home. In an apartment building with more than one floor, you are only allowed to have containers with a maximum of 5 liters of flammable gas inside the apartment, and in the basement, on the attic and in the garage, no gas at all except for individual spray cans. On a private balcony, the container may hold a maximum of 30 liters. A gas cylinder P11 has a volume of 26 liters.

What applies to jewelry, money, and documents?
Money, securities, jewellery and items made of precious metals are not included in the assignment. Take them with you, along with your passport, keys and papers you need on moving day. That's our advice.
Other valuable or fragile items, such as pictures, antiques, glass, porcelain and electronics, may be taken by the removal company, but you should tell them about these items. Bohag 2010 considers an item to be particularly valuable if it can be assumed to be worth more than half a price base amount. Make a list with an estimated value for each item. The company will then check against the list when the assignment begins and when it is completed. The company's compensation for damage is limited to 20 price base amounts per household and does not include sentimental value.

Fill in the template, download it as Word or PDF and send it to the removal company before the moving day. Save a copy for yourself.

The template is in Swedish because it goes to a Swedish recipient.
- Bohag 2010 point 4: the consumer should in their own interest make a list of particularly valuable or fragile items, such as paintings and antiques, with an estimated market value for each item.
- Particularly valuable is an item that can be assumed to be worth more than half a price base amount. Fragile are glass, porcelain, crystal, older items and electronics (Bohag 2010 point 4).
- If you have made an inventory, the company should check it when the assignment begins and when it is completed. If you have packed yourself, the check only applies to what is visible (Bohag 2010 point 3).
- Money, securities, jewellery, flammable substances, living animals and plants are not included in the assignment unless you have agreed on it (Bohag 2010 point 2). Write them down under what you drive yourself (our advice).

Why does the company not move animals, plants and food?
Living animals and plants and temperature-sensitive goods are not included in the assignment. Bohag 2010 also states that the company's responsibility can be adjusted or waived when the property is particularly exposed to damage from the move itself, and mentions living plants, food and temperature-sensitive property. How you do it yourself is described in the posts on how to move an aquarium, move potted plants, the cat after the move and how to empty the fridge and freezer. If you move in winter, the cold in the moving truck is a reason, see moving in winter.

What happens if you do not tell what is in the moving load?
You should provide the company with the information you understand is relevant to the assignment, including information about furniture that can damage people or property and particularly valuable or fragile items. If you do not provide the information, you may be liable for damage to the furniture. If you do not mention hazardous furniture despite the company asking, and the company assesses that there is a risk of damage, it may neutralise that part at your expense. If you pack yourself, you are responsible for damage resulting from deficiencies in the packaging.
Go through the storage, garage and balcony before the company arrives and set aside what should go in your own car. That is our advice. What happens on the day is stated in step 5, moving day, and how you complain about damage in the guide to damage and complaints. Add the review to Your moving plan.

Common questions
Can the removal company move my gas bottle?
Flammable substances are not included in the move according to Bohag 2010, unless you have agreed on it. As a private person, you are allowed to drive the gas cylinder yourself in your own car, if it is for household use. The agency for civil defence advises you to secure the load.
Is the relocation company moving pot plants and aquarium fish?
Not as part of a regular assignment. Bohag 2010 counts living animals and plants as things that are not included unless otherwise agreed. Flyttdax writes that their insurance does not cover plants.
Is Bohag 2010 applicable if the company is not a member of an industry organization?
Companies that are members of the Swedish Transport Association or the Swedish Furniture Movers Association must follow it. For other companies, it is considered good practice according to Konsumentverket, so you can refer to it.
