What can I leave at the recycling centres in Borås?

Bulk waste, hazardous waste and packaging, and bicycles, textiles and shoes for reuse. Hazardous waste is accepted in the amount that normally occurs in a household. Oil containers may hold a maximum of 5 litres, and you can leave a maximum of 5 litres of oil per day, as the staff will pour it into an approved container. Empty the rubbish bags into the containers and take the bag home or put it in the container for plastic. If you live in Borås, you can also leave waste at the recycling centres in Bollebygd, Herrljunga, Mark, Svenljunga, Tranemo, Ulricehamn and Vårgårda.

Where can I leave asbestos in Borås?

At Lusharpan. The asbestos must be well wrapped and sealed, and the staff will check the packaging and unlock the container. You can leave a maximum of 10 bags of up to 20 kilos each. For larger quantities, drive to Sobacken's waste facility after booking a time with the weighbridge staff on 033-35 74 87 or [email protected]. You must bring a completed form for basic characterisation and wear a high-visibility vest. If you come with a private car and the asbestos comes from an address with a waste subscription in Borås, it is free. If the waste comes from another municipality, it costs 3,625 kronor per ton.

What do I do if I drive to the recycling centre in Borås with a company car?

A light lorry owned by a company, or which is linked to a sole trader at Transportstyrelsen (the Swedish Transport Agency), must be pre-registered in Borås Energi och Miljö's web form before driving in. Otherwise, the visit will be registered and invoiced. You can pre-register 12 visits per year and registration number, and you will still pass with your driving licence. Only private waste is allowed to accompany you. If the staff assess that it is business waste, you will pay for the visit. This also applies to company cars that are considered light lorries.

Can I rent a container for the move in Borås?

Yes, Borås Energi och Miljö rents out containers from 8 to 35 cubic meters. The price consists of delivery, rental per day, collection and the weight of the waste, and you get the price and order from the Customer Center. The container should preferably be placed on a hard surface. Hazardous waste, food waste, textiles, tires and electrical waste must not be put in it, and an unsorted load is considered mixed waste. A 10 cubic meter container may weigh a maximum of 5 tons. If it is to be placed on the street, sidewalk or other public place, you need a permit from the police, and you show it before the container is placed.

What do I do with the things that are not coming with me?

Our advice is to sort out what you are not taking with you when you start packing, and take it to a recycling centre before moving day. Then the removal company only carries and drives what is coming along, and the working time gets shorter.
