Gothenburg City, Kretslopp och vatten has five recycling centres in the Gothenburg municipality:

What can I leave at the recycling centres in Gothenburg?

Almost all bulky waste, and also textiles, packaging, hazardous waste and electronics. In the autumn, they also accept fallen fruit. Some things have a limit per visit: a maximum of 8 tyres, a maximum of two refrigerators or freezers and two other white goods, and a maximum of 8 pallets. Used cooking fat is left at the bench for hazardous waste, a maximum of 10 litres per package. At all recycling centres, aid organisations have a container for second-hand goods, and usable building materials such as doors, windows with frames, kitchen cabinets and sinks are placed in the Reuse container. At Kretsloppsparken Alelyckan, you leave the items in the sorting hall before you drive in. The staff may check your waste and can reject those who do not follow the instructions.

Where do I leave asbestos in Gothenburg?

Private individuals living in Gothenburg leave asbestos at Tagene and at the Styrsö Skäret recycling centre. The asbestos must be wrapped in airtight plastic that you cannot press your finger through, at least 0.2 millimetre thick age-resistant building foil and cloth tape. Always tell the staff when you leave asbestos.

How do I pack the car before visiting the recycling centre?

Put what you are going to leave first at the back of the car. At Bulycke, you leave electrical waste, hazardous waste and reuse first, at the stations straight ahead after the boom. Then comes the ramp with, among other things, energy recovery, hard plastic, plaster, wood, upholstered furniture, metal, tyres and wellpapp, and after the ramp, garden waste, stone and concrete, refrigerators and white goods, packaging and books. The order differs between the five recycling centres, and the city has a map for each one. Hazardous waste should preferably be in the original packaging, closed and labelled.

What do I do with the things that are not coming with me?

Our advice is to sort out what you are not taking with you when you start packing, and take it to a recycling centre before moving day. Then the removal company only carries and drives what is coming along, and the working time gets shorter.

Renting a container for bulky waste in Gothenburg

Kretslopp and vatten rent out containers for bulky waste from about 5 to 34 cubic meters, and you order on 031-368 27 00. According to the waste tax 2026, delivery and emptying cost 3,038 kronor and bulky waste 4,250 kronor per ton, and after four days the rent is 44 kronor per day, all including VAT.
