Where can the moving van stand when the removal help is loading in Stockholm?
The City of Stockholm describes no special permit for a moving van that is standing and loading. If a container, shed or bulk bag is to be placed on the street during the move, a police permit is required, and it must be issued before you put it there. If you live in Familjebostäder and the van is standing on the yard or outside a marked space, it is considered parked if no one is loading at it within six minutes. Then the parking company can issue a control fee. The van must not stand with any wheel on the grass, and it should be moved to a parking space as soon as the loading is complete.

When should the move be completed at Familjebostäder?
All keys and key tags, including copies and keys to the basement, laundry room and bicycle room, are handed in at the reception of the visit office no later than 12 o'clock on the first weekday after the rental agreement has ceased. The inspection is usually done during the first notice month, and you book the time when you cancel the apartment on My pages. Schedule the removal help so that the apartment has time to become empty and cleaned before key delivery.

Does the moving truck pay congestion tax in Stockholm?
On weekdays, yes. The truck is automatically registered at the payment stations when entering and leaving the city centre and on Essingeleden. One passage costs 11 kronor between 9.30 and 14.59 and up to 45 kronor during rush hour in peak season, and a car pays a maximum of 135 kronor per day. Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and days before public holidays are free, as is July except for the first five weekdays. A move in the middle of the day or on the weekend will therefore result in lower or no tax for the truck.

How did you choose the companies in Stockholm?
We recommend removal companies that have an office or address in Stockholms kommun, a Google rating of at least 4.5 from at least 100 reviews, entries in Transportstyrelsen's register of traffic permits and an F-skatt certificate. The company must give the RUT tax deduction on the move. We prefer companies that publish prices.

What does a removal company in Stockholm cost?
Three of the companies publish prices on their own website, checked 3 October 2026:
- Flyttfabriken: 495 kr an hour for one man and an 11 m3 van, including VAT and after the RUT tax deduction.
- Flyttkalle: 595 kr an hour for a 24 m3 van and two men, after the RUT tax deduction. Van cost 500 kr within Stockholm.
- Pipers: 595 kr an hour for two men and a lorry, 995 kr for three men and a lorry, including VAT and after the RUT tax deduction.

Is there a cheap removal company in Stockholm?
What lowers the price is less work: pack yourself, sort out your things before the move and have everything ready when the company arrives. The RUT tax deduction removes at most half of the labour cost. We do not rank the firms by price, because they calculate it in different ways.
