Does VafabMiljö collect bulky waste in Västerås?

Yes, at the property boundary or, in apartment buildings, on the ground floor. The collection costs a fee, and you get the price from VafabMiljö's customer centre on 021-39 35 00. If you take it to the recycling centre yourself, the bulky waste is free for private individuals. There are also containers for things that can be reused, so you can donate whole pieces of furniture and items instead of throwing them away.

Am I driving a company-registered car to the recycling centre?

Some cars that are registered to a company are automatically registered when they drive into the recycling centre, and then an invoice can be sent out. If you leave private waste with such a car, you avoid the fee by pre-registering the visit on VafabMiljö's website. There you can also see if your vehicle is invoiced automatically.

Where do I leave hazardous waste in Västerås?

At the recycling centre. Leave it preferably in the original packaging, or write on the packaging what it contains. Waste oil is left in drums of up to 5 to 10 litres. Asbestos and larger quantities of hazardous waste are not accepted by the recycling centre, and then the customer centre on 021-39 35 00 will help you further. The recycling centre is closed on Saturday, 31 October, All Saints' Day.

What do I do with the things that are not coming with me?

Our advice is to sort out what you are not taking with you when you start packing, and take it to a recycling centre before moving day. Then the removal company only carries and drives what is coming along, and the working time gets shorter.
