If you move within HFAB or to a care or nursing home, it is two months. The move-out inspection is done within seven days of the notice. You book the cleaning and final inspection yourself, and it must be completed by 12 pm on the move-out day. You hand over the keys, tags and washing cylinders by the same time. The balcony and patio must also be cleaned.

You can register from 16 years old and apply for apartments from 18 years old. You confirm your queue place at least once every 365 days on Mina sidor, otherwise the queue points will disappear. Most apartments are allocated based on queue points, and some through a lottery, and you can apply for up to ten apartments at the same time.

Step 3: Where do I leave bulky waste in Halmstad?
HEM is the municipality’s company for waste management and runs four recycling centres. All customers have 15 free visits per year, after that the visit costs 200 kronor. You get in by scanning your driving licence, and the visits are linked to the population registration. If you don’t have a driving licence, you order an ÅVC card. If you come from another municipality, you pay at cost price on site. Only sorted waste is accepted, and hazardous waste is left at Farliga baren at Villmanstrand and Flygstaden. If you come with a trailer, make sure all gates are closed. All four are closed on All Saints’ Day and have their own times around Christmas.

Step 4: What applies to resident parking when you move in Halmstad?
Report the move to Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency) before you move or at the latest one week after. Resident parking permits cost 250 kronor per month and are an ongoing subscription that is renewed on the first of each month. You must be registered in the area and registered owner of the car, and the car must be registered at your registration address. If you move to a new residential area, your new address must be registered with Transportstyrelsen (the Swedish Transport Agency) before you can buy a new permit. The old one ends before 6 pm on the last day of the month.

The municipality charges 879 kronor in handling fee and 85 kronor per day for a container, 110 kronor per day if it stands on a parking space. The processing by the police can sometimes take 6 to 8 weeks. The police charge 990 kronor and write that a permit is not needed if the place is only used temporarily and to a minor extent. The municipality writes nothing about a moving truck that just stands and loads.
