Recycling centres in Halmstad

HEM is the municipality’s company for waste management and runs four recycling centres. All customers have 15 free visits per year, after that the visit costs 200 kronor. You get in by scanning your driving licence, and the visits are linked to the population registration. If you don’t have a driving licence, you order an ÅVC card. If you come from another municipality, you pay at cost price on site. Only sorted waste is accepted, and hazardous waste is left at Farliga baren at Villmanstrand and Flygstaden. If you come with a trailer, make sure all gates are closed. All four are closed on All Saints’ Day and have their own times around Christmas.

Where do you leave asbestos and eternit in Halmstad?

The recycling centres do not accept asbestos and eternit. Households in Halmstad leave it instead at Ragn Sells' reception facility on Metallvägen 2. Each visit is booked at least 24 hours in advance with HEM's customer service on 035-190 190. Up to 300 kilos is free. For what is above, you pay 2.80 kronor per kilo on site. The asbestos must be wrapped in a plastic bag or building plastic that is at least 0.2 millimetres thick. Tape the package tightly so that no fibre dust leaks out.

What do I do with the things that are not coming with me?

Our advice is to sort out what you are not taking with you when you start packing, and take it to a recycling centre before moving day. Then the removal company only carries and drives what is coming along, and the working time gets shorter.
