Move in Lund step by step
Lund has no municipal housing agency. The municipality's housing company LKF has its own queue, which is free, and you get one point per day. At LKF, the notice period is three months, and the apartment should be emptied and cleaned before 12 o'clock on the last day. The municipality has four recycling centres, where your driving licence is your access card. At Gunnesbo and Gastelyckan, 26 visits per year are included.

Step 1: What do the landlords in Lund say about moving out?

The notice period is three months and is counted from the month change. The inspection is booked no later than two working days after the notice. The apartment should be emptied and cleaned before 12 o'clock on the day the contract ends, and the keys are handed over then at the area office.

Housing queue in Lund
The municipality refers to LKF for municipal rental apartments. You can join LKF's queue from 16 years old, the queue is free and you get one point per day. You must log in to Mina sidor at least once per calendar year, otherwise you will be deleted. Students at Lund University apply to AF Bostäder, whose queue for the spring term 2027 opens on 9 December.

Step 3: Where do I leave bulky waste in Lund?
You come in with your driving licence and pay nothing on site, the cost is included in the waste tax. Genarp and Veberöd are run by Lunds renhållningsverk and are closed on Sundays and public holidays. Gunnesbo and Gastelyckan are run by Sysav, where each adult has 26 visits per calendar year and each visit thereafter costs 325 kronor. If you live in a rental apartment, the council does not collect bulk waste, so you drive yourself or ask the landlord.

Step 4: What applies to resident parking when you move in Lund?
Report the move to Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency) before you move or at the latest one week after. In some areas in central Lund, you can get resident parking if you live there. You apply to the municipality's parking company LKP AB. You must be registered at the address and own the car, which must not be deregistered, and you get a permit for one car. The permit only applies to municipal street land, and you can stand for a maximum of 14 days in a row.

Step 5: Can the moving truck stand on the street in Lund?
If you want to use public space, you need a permit for markupplåtelse, and the application is made to the police. The police charge 990 kronor and state that a permit is not required if the space is only used temporarily and to a minor extent. The municipality charges its own fee in addition to the police's, and if traffic is affected, a traffic management plan may be required. The municipality's website does not mention container or moving truck.

Step 7: What happens at the inspection and key handover?
The last step is to hand over the home. Book the move-out cleaning so that it is ready before a possible inspection, and return all keys. Save the invoices from the removal company and the move-out cleaning, where the RUT tax deduction should be stated. Both deductions count towards the same limit of 75,000 kronor per person and year.
