You come in with your driving licence and pay nothing on site, the cost is included in the waste tax. Genarp and Veberöd are run by Lunds renhållningsverk and are closed on Sundays and public holidays. Gunnesbo and Gastelyckan are run by Sysav, where each adult has 26 visits per calendar year and each visit thereafter costs 325 kronor. If you live in a rental apartment, the council does not collect bulk waste, so you drive yourself or ask the landlord.

Where can I leave hazardous waste and small electronics?
The recycling centres accept hazardous waste such as paint, glue, solvents, oil, fluorescent tubes, spray cans and batteries. Small electronics like lamps, small batteries and mobile phones can also be put in the Samlaren, Sysav's container in stores like ICA Kvantum Tuna, Stora Coop on Traktorvägen and Hemköp in Brunnshög and Dalby. Can I leave things for reuse?
Yes. At the recycling centres, you can leave second-hand items that someone else can use. At Gunnesbo and Gastelyckan, you can leave whole and clean clothes, shoes and bags for reuse, and broken or dirty textiles in a separate container. It is Sysav that collects the textiles.

What applies to hazardous waste, asbestos and impregnated wood at Gastelyckan?
Hazardous waste is accepted by Sysav in the quantity that normally occurs in a household. If you have more, contact Sysav's customer service on 040-635 18 00. The waste must be well packaged, preferably in its original packaging, and if it is in another packaging, you write what it contains. Impregnated wood is considered hazardous waste and is handed in separately from other wood. Sleepers and telephone poles are accepted with a maximum of five per day. Asbestos may have a cross-section of at most 40 times 20 centimeters, must be wrapped in plastic and taped, and you must not divide it on site. More than one square meter costs money and is handed in at Spillepengen in Malmö or Hedeskoga outside Ystad.

How do I sort construction waste and furniture at Gastelyckan?
Remove the battens from the plasterboards before you put the plaster in its container. Plaster that is attached to tiles is handled separately, so ask the staff. Glass wool, mineral wool and mortar in bags go in the container for what cannot be recycled, but always contact the staff before throwing anything away there. Furniture and mattresses with springs have their own container. Wooden furniture, bookshelves and wardrobes go to wood, and you do not need to remove screws and nails. The staff do not help with unloading appliances, TVs or spring furniture.

What do I do with the things that are not coming with me?
Our advice is to sort out what you are not taking with you when you start packing, and take it to a recycling centre before moving day. Then the removal company only carries and drives what is coming along, and the working time gets shorter.
